JOE SYMES AND THE LOVING KIND
Hailing from Liverpool, Joe Symes & The Loving Kind are a powerful rock trio built on memorable songs, huge musicianship and a formidable live presence. Founded by singer-songwriter Joe Symes and guitarist Colin White, with bassist Alan Welsh completing the line-up, the band have been described as “sounding like nine people on stage, not a mere three.”
Blending rock, psychedelic, country and melodic heavy-pop influences, Joe Symes & The Loving Kind have earned a reputation as one of Liverpool’s most compelling contemporary acts. Their music has received BBC Introducing support, international airplay across the US, Canada and Australia, and has been played at Liverpool FC’s Anfield stadium.
The band have headlined Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds after-show party and supported acclaimed acts including The Blockheads, Alt-J, Bloc Party and Starsailor. Their releases have also featured alongside artists including Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, Roger McGuinn, Noel Gallagher and Robyn Hitchcock, earning praise from Creation Records founder Alan McGee.
A 2022 EP title track reached number 8 in the UK’s national 365 Radio chart, charting ahead of Florence + The Machine, Liam Gallagher and Ed Sheeran. With three albums behind them and a fourth currently in development, Joe Symes & The Loving Kind continue to build momentum through passionate songwriting and exceptional live shows.
