The atmosphere at Archive was electric from the moment Tripwire stepped onto the stage.
Tasked with opening the night before Firehead, the three-piece wasted no time in making an impression, delivering a set packed with energy, power and musicianship that immediately grabbed the attention of everyone in the venue.
Frontman Eddie, handling lead vocals and lead guitar, led from the front with a commanding performance. His powerful vocals cut effortlessly through the band's wall of sound, captivating the audience from the opening song. His guitar work was equally impressive, balancing heavy, driving riffs with more melodic passages that showcased the band's versatility.
On bass, Luke produced some truly standout basslines throughout the set. His playing added depth and groove to every track, locking perfectly with the drums while bringing its own character to the songs. It was impossible not to notice the impact his bass had on the band's huge live sound.
Behind the kit, Toby proved to be the backbone of the trio. His tight, consistent drumming held everything together with precision, allowing the heavier moments to hit with maximum impact while seamlessly guiding the band through the slower, more melodic sections of their music.
Tripwire's sound is a perfect blend of crushing rock intensity and thoughtful melody. While the heavier tracks had the crowd moving, the slower, more atmospheric moments demonstrated the band's ability to create emotion and dynamics without losing any of their edge.
Visually, the band looked every bit as polished as they sounded. Their image was on point, and their confident stage presence made it easy to forget this was the opening act. They performed with the confidence of a band that's comfortable on stage and clearly enjoys every moment of playing live.
Overall, Tripwire delivered an outstanding opening performance that set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Their combination of powerful vocals, memorable bass work, tight musicianship and commanding stage presence proved exactly why they are a band worth watching. If this performance is anything to go by, Tripwire have a very exciting future ahead.
